The 4th and 5th of September, Startup Safary made it possible to look behind the scenes of small and large companies located in Berlin. An open day with invited young companies, coworking spaces, etc. to present themselves and to answer questions to the visitors.

On the 5th the event started out with a get together at the Rainmaking Loft. More then 75 people joined the breakfast with the success of getting to know other startups (everybody that wants can pitch) and the opportunity to connect with each other. Exactly what Startup Safary’s target is with their 2-day event all over Berlin.

The Facts

After a successful first edition in 2013, Startup Safary made a two-day trip out of the previous one-day event. Since there was no central venue, the visitors had to prepare a personal timetable, when they wanted to be where. More than 100 individual events were planned. In the für-Gründer.de, Postbahnhof was chosen among others. There, young labels, producers, musicians and fans of music presented different themes to discuss the music market and to question the role of cultural policy in the music business, looking at the latest products.

Other companies like BlaBlaCar, Berlin Startup Consulting, Google, Smava, Microsoft Ventures, Kayak, Audi Bene and a lot of coworking spaces as hub: space, betahaus and the Rainmaking Loft participated in hosting event for Startup Safary. The event types were divided in Meet & Greet, Presentation, Networking, Recruiting, Office Tour and Workshop.

The Mission

Startup Safary’s mission is to provide insight into the dynamics of working methods and structures of the developing startup scene. Establishing contacts between founders and other entrepreneurs maybe interested to initiate new partnerships or attracting new employees. Time and space was provided for thematic workshops, different Safari tours (through the offices), network meetings and Q&A sessions. Everything was organized with an eye on the exploration of the start-up world.

Going international

The event opens doors of the start-up and tech scene. The first Safary Tour in 2013 also took place in Berlin. Other safaris took place in Krakow, Poznan and Cologne. In addition, even more cities, such as Athens in the fall of 2014, added. The event was started in 2012 by Maciek Laskus and Clarissa Steinhöfel with the main focus to take a look behind the scenes of the different corporate cultures of the participating companies.
